Work Experience Opportunity with WAMS

Medicine Work Experience Week Applications are OPEN!

Having work experience before applying to medical school is essential; due to the competitive nature of the application process, it’s impossible to get a place without it. Securing placements can be tricky, especially for students who don’t have relatives who are doctors which therefore puts them at a disadvantage.

However, WAMS offers a solution! For the 7th year in a row, WAMS are running a work experience week for prospective medics on the: July 25th-29th 2016

Based at the Queen’s Medical Centre and Nottingham City hospitals, this week involves shadowing final year medical students which means time on the ward, clinics and even theatre! As well as this, the week will include talks from doctors from a range of specialities to give a varied insight into what the career could involve.

Students will also have sessions covering useful information about the application process and tips to securing a place at medical school. With the help of log-books, students will also be prompted to keep reflections from the week which will help when the time comes to write that all-important personal statement!

Applications for this programme are now OPEN!

An application form is available on our website:www.wamsnottingham.com under the ‘work experience’ heading. Here you’ll also find an example timetable to give a rough idea of how the week will be structured.

Applicants should fill out the application form and send it to:workexperience@wamsnottingham.com before the end of May, 2016.

In the past, places on the programme have been competitive so we encourage applicants to write the best application possible. Places will be allocated based on quality of application and with preference given to Year 12 students.

If you have any questions or require further information about WAMS or work experience in general, email us atworkexperience@wamsnottingham.com.

Good luck on your applications!
